The final countdown

Here it is -- already the last weekend of PSIFF 2009! Time to watch those films, submit your votes, and wait to see if your fellow filmgoers agree on the Audience Favorites for the Best of the Fest day on Monday.

What have been your favorite films? What's the buzz in line? Which do you think will make the cut?

I have been most pleasantly surprised by the Japanese films, and those set in Japan - Cherry Blossoms, Kabei, Departures, The Witch of the West is Dead - and no one speaks poorly of them. Revanche, Everlasting Moments and Captain Abu Raed were the most complete films I screened. Some smaller films touched me, in a variety of ways, including Showgirls, Cloud 9, Marcello Marcello, Dunya & Desie, and Eldorado. I was not too thrilled with the Cannes biggies, Gomorrah and The Class. Picking a "best film" eludes me...I can only speak to what I was grateful to see.

We agree with Dan! The Japanese films were outstanding!! In addition we really enjoyed: Skin, The Black Balloon, Crossing and a surprise near the end...Sunshine Cleaning was a good break.. One we screened; The Young Romantic made it to best of fest. It is truly amazing with all the not to great (and some down right bad) that ANYThing we screened made it in. We feel very fortunate to have seen the wonderful selection of films that were shown this year and will carry the memories of how these films touched our hearts and minds into future years.
