Oscar results

The Academy definitely favored the Indian production that could, Slumdog Millionaire. Other winners included Milk for screenplay & Best Actor (Sean Penn), Kate Winslet as Best Actress for The Reader, and Penelope Cruz & Heath Ledger in the supporting acting categories.

Did you notice that "Toyland" won the Best Live Action Short Oscar, after winning the 2008 ShortFest Audience Favorite Live Action Short? And Best Foreign Language Film Oscar winner, Departures, recently won the 2009 PSIFF Mercedes-Benz Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature?

What do you think?

And what do you think of the change in format?
It seemed to target a broader audience by including clips of more popular but non-nominated films and using popular actors, such as the stars from High School Musical.

What did you think of the five previous winners presenting the acting categories?

I am thrilled that "Departures" won. It is a wonderful story, told baeutifully. Perhaps more people will now get to see it. I loved the ensemble presentations of the acting trophies. For the most part, they were incredibly personal, generous and heartfelt, and actually constituted an award in themselves. I'm sure that Anne Hathaway knew that she was not going to win the Oscar, but the tribute from the stage will be with her for a lifetime. In fact, since it came from Shirley MacClaine, maybe longer. In general, I did not think that 2008 was a great year for movies, save the small ones, like "The Counterfeiters" and "In Bruges". If you missed it, try to catch rerunss of the Independent Spirit Awards, a fun show and a very different cup of tea from the Academy Awards.

I thought "Revanche" should of one...the story was well done, great third act and I felt for the actors at the end.
I loved how the director used very few set-ups (coverage). He may of shot it that way because of finances but it worked for the story.
I think he's a smart filmmaker and look forward to see more films by him. Also, the lead, he's an amazing actor.
